Paul Hamler scraper insert review

please note new email for Paul:

hamlertools@windstream.net

this is how it comes...

simplest concept and easy to install in any standard Bailey #4 1/2. #5 1/2, #6 or #7...there is also a version for Stanley bedrocks...same sizes

fit and finish excellent

even comes with Paul's advanced spring mechanism...believe me, a much needed improvement..

installation...two simple screws...that's all it takes

OMG!!!...I had a chance to try it out this weekend for about a half hour...this is the BEST scraper I have ever tried...used it on a re-sawn piece of black walnut, a scrap chunk of dirty oak, a large slice of wenge and a small block of ebony...it made quick work of every piece I tried...nice light fluffy shavings...and a finish as smooth as a baby's bottom...nothing fancy for set up...just dropped the blade through the mouth until it hit my finger...didn't adjust the angle at all, was about 4 degrees off dead nuts center...

this is what I call a No brainer...the length of the #6 I'm using gave me all the stability I needed...nice flat surface...I think a #4 1/2 might be too much like a #112 plane...but I'm going to try it out soon..

I've used a lot of scrapers.....A LOT of scrapers and I've not found one that matches what this does...I was adjusting the angle on the fly with one finger...that spring certainly makes a BIG difference...makes me want to change over all my Stanley #12 series...

pictures soon...
