RODIER'S PATENT
Found at a flea Sunday
October 3rd at 9:30 am...way late for this sort of thing to have
been passed up..especially since I know three guys who pick this
market early...luck of the draw I guess
here's the plane as
found:
Note the price tag
on the tote...but the dealer gave me a break on the price 'cause
it was a slow day- obviously the wrong knob, I've replaced it
but still not correct..tote appeared to be a home-made job, but
very servicable.
now that's what I call corrugations!
That's what drew me to the plane in the first place..I could see
these very outstanding squiggly lines through the obligatory white
paint..
the adjustment- like
nothing you've ever seen..
here's a shot of the
bed with the depth adjustment
close up of the star
knob that controls the cam
see that very thick
protrusion at the back of the sole? It's the post for the bottom
of the tote...held in place with that post and one screw...
..interesting concept..the
star wheel rotates a cam that pivots the cutting edge of the blade
through the sole of the plane. changing both the depth and the
angle..

the Rodier patent I recommend Patrick Leach's study at:

P.S. in case anyones
wondering...the dealer I got the Rodier's from is a big Elvis
Presley fan..I brought him a couple of hundred dollars worth of
rare Elvis memorabilia a few weeks later...for free..pays to own
a record store once in a while...
